On this edition of Feedback Friday (ok, maybe I'm a few hours late :) we'll be covering a bit more on Mac OS X System Requirements for AOL's Mac products, AIM for Mac 1.5 Beta and the new iBlog.
Q: I am currently running on 10.4.11. Checked Apple Software updates and I do not have any.A: Apple provides updates for each major version for free. This means that all 10.3.0 through 10.3.9, 10.4.0 through 10.4.11 and 10.5.0 through 10.5.6 are absoultely free. But an upgrade from 10.3.9 to 10.4 or 10.4 to 10.5 will require a purchase from Apple (usually for $129 per Mac). AOL is supporting
10.4.8 through
10.4.11 and
10.5.3 through
10.5.6. We currently don't support 10.4.8 or below for AOL Desktop for AIM for Mac.
Q: I am having difficulty logging into AIM for Mac?A: Our QA Engineer Harry has the following suggestions:Questions needing to be asked are:
* Do you save your password in the keychain (is the save in keychain box checked...See image below)?
* Have you tried going into your System preferences to remove the keychain?
~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain
Sometimes, even inputting the incorrect password when the correct password has already been saved will allow you to connect, then the keychain takes the incorrect one to replace the correct one. If this is the case, deleting the keychain should resolve the situation for you.Q: When is A/V support for AIM for Mac coming?A: Short answer, it's something we would all like to have and it's at the top of our feature request list. We have some near term issues to resolve and we'll have more info this summer.Q: I would like to edit/change my Buddy Icon.A: Stay tuned! We'll have more info coming soon (hint, hint)!Q: How do I find out more info on AOL's iPhone products?A: Venture on down to the AOL iBlog (http://iblog.aol.com)I'll be back next week for another installment of Feedback Friday.
thanks!

1. Is any progress being made on porting the current "stand alone Classic" AOL chatrooms over to the new Mac AOL Desktop OR Mac AIM programs? If not, will it ever happen? When? Why is it taking so long? The current AOL program for Macs hasn't been updated in what, two years or more? My "opening page" still displays totally outdated info. Can't they at LEAST change that?
Frustrated Mac user.

2. I am getting really tired of every time I launch AOL it tells me this beta version has expired and asks me if I want to download the new version. I click download and of course nothing downloads. This is way too difficult and confusing.
Every single time it tells me whatever version I am using has expired.

4. I am new to this site. Sorry if this is off topic or is not posted in the correct place.
I am having trouble with things such as serious delayed keyboard response (Keyboard lag) on the original aol as well as the desk top version. It is not nearly as bad on the Desktop version. Actually the original aol crashes quite often as well. The problem is worse on the original format version.
Also, when I am viewing my address book and scroll to the desired name the scroll will only hold for about two seconds before returning to the top. If I am quick, I can select a name and it will only return to that position instead of going all the way back to the top (the A's) This is the method I have to use to "sneak up" on the desired address.
I have been running both versions for quite some time now and this problem just started about a week ago.
On the original aol, I am using the latest (last) version that was available for my operating system..... Mac OS 10.4.11 on a Power Book, 1GHz, G4 with 512 MB SDRAM. My point being I have plenty of memory and speed. Suggestions?

5. Is there anyway you can make logged chats more accessible. Right now I have to search my hard drive every time I want to read a specific logged chat. Also, is there any chance you could make the application more visually appealing? And one more thing... can you make it so I can sign on invisible.
Thanks!

7. I don't know where to put this, but I have q question for AOL. When clients email me I can't save them as "mary" "Mary's neighbor Joe" or anything. I can only save them into folders so if 100 potential customers email me how can I find them when they call to say, hi, I'm mary, i sent you an email... Now I have to make 100 folders, like mary, nance, oprah, peg, ... and I can't save them to my desktop so i have to keep aol open no matter what I'm working on, so I can find the email they refer to, when they call.
This did not happen in aol classic. It is a problem in desktop for mac 1.5 I bet AOL loses a lot of customers because of the crazy save methods on the desktop. Will AOL change this? I'd be happy to advise them.
