Why does AOL require users to update their Mac OS X systems? We get this question frequently and more noticeably when we release a new update or beta. Our outstanding Mac QA team builds test cases on each of our "supported" OS versions. We run the same battery of tests on current and future releases of Mac OS X.
Welcome to the Mac@AOL Blog. My name is Lee Givens and I'm the Product Lead for the Mac and iPhone products at AOL. You can find the latest information on AOL's software development on the Mac and any cool happenings at AOL. The purpose of the blog is to create a feedback loop so we can hear from our loyal AOL Mac users. Managing a blog is a lot of work, so I enlisted support from the whole team...the Mac team is made up of dedicated Macintosh developers, QA engineers and Product folks.

3. I guess I have not been a user because I have OS X Panther, 10.4.11 but I have Beta MAC Desktop in my Applications file. I have seen the notice that the version I have is out of date, but when I tried to download it I can't seem to complete the action. Suggestions??

4. My comment is at 3 above. I now have an AOL Beta icon at the bottom of my screen and three or four AOL Desktop[ for Mac icons on the right side, besides a round circle that I don't know what it is. It has Esc in the slot in the middle.
It's all a mystery to me. Can you help me sort this out?

5. Over the last year or so OS-X Mail has not behaved well with my AOL account. Mail to be sent on my AOL account sits in the outbox until I reboot, then sends multiple copies. The drafts mailbox fills up with messages composed on the AOL account even though I never save as a draft. Is there some way to fix this behavior? If you're going to respond, please use celhardt@mac.com, since it's a lot more reliable.
