Focus on Features - AIM for Mac
With the AIM for Mac beta you can quickly and easily transfer files to your buddies. There are two ways to start the file transfer. The easier way is to drag a file from the Finder to a buddy on your Buddy List. Another way is to use the menu "People > Send Files" which displays a File Selection window where you can choose a file and click Send.
Either method for starting a file transfer works well, but the drag and drop feature is the fastest method. You can drop a file onto a buddy in your Buddy List, or drop a file in the compose area of an existing conversation. The file transfer will start immediately by sending a message to your buddy asking for approval to send the file. As soon as your buddy approves, the file will be sent.
When the file transfer begins you will see a File Transfer Strip appear in the history area of the IM Conversation window. This strip displays the name of the file and provides controls to Reveal the File in Finder and to Cancel the Transfer. You can also immediately open the file by clicking on the file name in the strip.

Welcome to the Mac@AOL Blog. My name is Lee Givens and I'm the Product Lead for the Mac and iPhone products at AOL. You can find the latest information on AOL's software development on the Mac and any cool happenings at AOL. The purpose of the blog is to create a feedback loop so we can hear from our loyal AOL Mac users. Managing a blog is a lot of work, so I enlisted support from the whole team...the Mac team is made up of dedicated Macintosh developers, QA engineers and Product folks.
Reader Comments (Page 1 of 1)
1. Enjoy the MAC AOL Desktop, but there is one thing that is most annoying. When I look at an Email message and I don't click on "Keep as New" it will disappear. No other Mail service does that, because quite often there are other people who may want to read this and it is easy to sometimes neglect that procedure.
PLEASE give us the choice whether we want to keep the message or not.
Thanks,
Hans Rosenthal
